Thanks

11:27 am • Filed under: New book fun!,Writing

I just want to thank all of the readers out there who’ve bought Scandalous and kept it on the My Bookstore and More chart in the number one spot. How cool is that?

Even cooler? Y’all who missed Forbidden the first time around have gone out and bought it and now it’s landed at number ten on the MBaM chart! Wow! That book came out last November so I’m…shocked. And excited. And so so thankful!

In other news I’m working on my seekrit project and it’s going great. I still love it. I’m torturing my hero and heroine and though that makes me feel evil, it’s necessary.

What are you up to this Monday? Can you believe it’s almost September? I can NOT…

Falling In Love

12:49 am • Filed under: I have issues,Writing,inspiration

Wasn’t it Elizabeth Taylor who said in regards to her vast love life that the best part about falling in love was the falling part?

She should’ve been a romance author.

I think I’m going to sound like a complete lunatic but I don’t care. I gotta throw it out there.

Sometimes I create a particular hero in my own little mind that I end up falling madly in love with. Yes, a fictional character who doesn’t exist anywhere but in my head (and eventually in the book which hopefully will sell and then readers get to fall in love with him too).

This happened with Austin from Forbidden. Oh, how I fell in looove with hiiim. I wrote his story in two weeks. It was as if he whispered in my ear the entire time I was writing and it was pure bliss. I haven’t felt that high and in love with a hero since.

(I want to say that I always give my all with every story and I don’t think my falling in love with the occasional hero means that all the rest of my heroes suck. Definitely not. I love all the characters I’ve written. But yeah, when I do fall madly in love with the hero? The story does benefit. I cannot tell a lie)

It’s finally happened again and I’m there. I am In. Mad. Love. with my current hero. And he only came to me hmmm…last Friday? Thursday maybe? I don’t know but he’s pushing me hard to keep writing and it’s this super seekrit project that I haven’t told anyone about except my agent (oh yeah and my husband). I wrote the first three chapters in three days. I sent them to my agent Tuesday and she already read them and with a few suggested tweaks, she said she likes them and wants me to continue. Wheeee…

But I digress.

I don’t quite get why the occasional hero will really get to me. It just…happens and oh man, when it does, I feel positively giddy. I act like a fool in love. I fall asleep thinking about them (him). I wake up thinking about them (him). I sometimes even dream about them. It’s rather obsessive but when I am in that frame of mind, when they are consuming me I go with it. The words pour out and I’m so wrapped up I have a hard time breaking out of it.

It helps when you have visual assistance.

Meet my new boyfriend Henry Cavill. Good LORD he is gorgeous. And this isn’t even the picture that sends me over the edge. I’m holding on to that one like I don’t want to share it or something. Not that this picture is bad…seriously he doesn’t take a bad picture. And his voice. Dreamy…

I’m warning you now be prepared for more Henry photos because he is just too delicious to be ignored. And he’s so young! God, I feel like such a cougar and I hate that term with a burning hot passion.

Okay I gotta go. A certain hero is calling my name asking me to write his story. And I’m more than happy to oblige…

New Cover Love

1:23 am • Filed under: New book fun!,Writing

Here’s my cover for my novella My Favorite Mistake, part of the Tahoe Nights series coming October 12th at Samhain:

I don’t have blurbage yet. Sorry…

My editor calls the guy on the cover my sexy nerd. Ha! It’s true though. The hero in the book is a sexy nerd. Gotta love those quiet guys who wear glasses right? Hmmm…

My novella is coming out along with Anne Rainey’s A Little Bit Naughty and S.L. Carpenter’s Need You Now. I’m in good company right? That’s what I thought.

Watch for all three of them on October 12th!

I’m Back

11:17 am • Filed under: Writing

Whew I needed a week just to relax from the whirlwind that is known as the RWA National Conference! I had a fabulous time. The vibe at the conference was extremely positive. The hotel was awesome. I made new friends, hung with my old and beloved friends, met my agent, went to parties, went to workshops…I was a busy chick.

But now I’m home. Been hanging with the kids, writing, cleaning and preparing for school to start. A week from today they go back to school. Where did the summer go? I blinked and it was gone! But secretly? I’m ready for them to go back. Getting back on a regular schedule will be good for all of us. Especially me. Ha!

Today I’m doing laundry, mopping the floor (sad face) and writing! What are you up to?

Going to Orlando

11:02 am • Filed under: Writing,contest

I’m leaving for Orlando early tomorrow morning for the annual RWA conference. Yay! Seeing old friends, meeting new ones, absorbing all of those good writerly vibes…I can’t wait!

I’m one of the more than 500 romance authors participating in the 2010 “Readers for Life” Literacy Autographing — it takes place on Wednesday, July 28, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Walt Disney World® Dolphin Resort, Pacific Exhibit Hall, in Orlando, Florida. This event is open to the public and it’s FREE. If you’re in the area, don’t miss it!

Also, there’s a huge contest going on over at The Romance Reviews. And Under My Umbrella is just one of the many ebooks/books being given away. Please go check it out!

Peace out folks. I’ll be back next week!

I Forgot

1:00 am • Filed under: Home Life,Writing

…to do Caturday on Saturday. Shame on me. And I took photos of the kittens and everything. There’s always next week right?

It’s insane this week. Last week of school. Oldest is out Thursday. Other two munchkins are out Friday. Since I’m room mom for youngest munchkin, I have a huge project to work on (finishing up the memory books for each child in class – ack) plus organizing the last day of school party. Save me now!

At least I turned in a novella to my Samhain editor last week so that’s off my plate. I’m turning in the final revision on my historical manuscript to my agent right now. So the writing obligations are few. Though watch…edits are headed my way I just know it.

This rambling on is just to let you know why I won’t be posting much this week. It’s just too nutty. I can’t wait for school to be over! Ask me how I feel about this in about three weeks though okay? I’ll be saying I can’t wait for school to start! I’m fickle that way.

What are YOU up to this week?
