Sooo I made a playlist for my current book writing schedule, lovin’ it. Seem to work/write better when I have music playing in the background. In fact, certain songs seem to become associated to certain projects.
Like this song. One of those songs I forgot that I loved so much and then I started listening to it again and I can’t stop. This is my hero’s song. He IS trouble. He’s trouble to himself and trouble to everyone else. He’s tortured and a mighty pain in the ass. I think I’m in love with him.
This is Trouble by Coldplay. Before Chris Martin discovered Gwenyth and had Apples and Moses. The video is super cool. Check it out.
YouTube is the best thing EVAH.

Since Monday marks the beginning of school, this also marks a new schedule in my household. We are getting up early.
Real early.
Like around six. That’s in the a.m. I have to get my daughter to the bus stop by around seven so…yeah. That means early rising. And I’m not really an early riser. Well, I don’t do half bad but over the summer, I got real lazy. Like real real lazy. So it’s hard to get back into the swing of things.
I’m even toying with the idea of waking up even earlier to write. Yes! Like around five! Can I do it? If I go to bed early enough I can. I’m having to go to bed early anyway so why not a little earlier? I’ve decided I’m losing my night writing time so I gotta do a switch.
Can I do it? I don’t know. I just read somewhere (I believe it was Candace Havens who said it, I could be wrong but I’m giving her credit anyway) that if you write first thing after you wake up, your internal editor is shut off.
Well, I bet my internal editor will be flat-out asleep. But that will probably work in my favor.
Any early risers out there? Do you feel your best in the morning or are you a night owl? And tell me, is my plan crazy? From night owl to early bird - can it be done?

I’m remiss in announcing that I sold a novella to Samhain Publishing. Yes indeed I sold Fortune’s Promise, which is the second book in my lottery series (first book was Fortune’s Deception).
This one is Maddie’s story. The final book in the series will be Lauren’s story. I’ve entitled it Fortune’s Luck. I need to, ahem, write it (lovely editor don’t worry I will get it to you when I promised!).
Here’s the *unofficial* blurb for Fortune’s Promise:
A one night stand with a famous musician might be just what Maddie’s looking for. Even though she won the lottery a year ago, she’s bored, unfulfilled and looking for something, anything to fill the void.
Tanner Robinson’s looking for one night of casual sex and finds Maddie. So beautiful, so sweet and sexy yet the undeniable connection he feels with her scares him. Desperate to keep it casual, he can’t. He wants more with Maddie and suspects she feels the same way.
A single mistake will cost them nearly everything. Can Tanner redeem himself before it’s too late?
And I got a peek at my cover for my upcoming release at Ellora’s Cave, Hidden. I’ll share that too once I’ve been given the green light.
Anything new and exciting with you?

I am a for crap blogger. I don’t even have an excuse! I swear I’ve been the laziest slug ever. But when you’re dealing with extreme heat and bored children well, I guess you have a hard time getting up the energy to blog.
I’ve been challenged over at the Cobblestone Press forums to write 30k in three days. YES, three days. Can I do it? I don’t know but I’m gonna try. My writing has been slacking lately and I need to get my butt in gear. So here I am rising to the challenge!
I just put together a tent for the kids. They got this tent a couple of years ago for Christmas and it had been put away. Talk about entertaining. They’re having a blast! Hope it lasts through the weekend. I also cleaned like a mad woman so I’m ready. Ready to write! Bring it on!
I’ve written three thousand words so far today. Can I deliver seven thousand more? Yeah baby yeah!
At least I don’t have to write with this old thing.

What are you doing this weekend?

I’m thisclose to finishing the book I’ve been working on. Yes so close I can taste it. So close that I believe it will be finished this evening (which is really Wednesday evening but you know what I mean).
I’m gonna be sad to finish this one people. I love my characters. I don’t always feel this way, sometimes I’m so thankful to be finished it’s not even funny but sigh…not this one. I’m going into mourning when I’m done. I’ll light little candles and wipe away the tears.
Well I won’t go to that extreme but you get the picture.
In other writing news, I sold a novella to Ellora’s Cave entitled Hidden. I’ll have more information as it becomes available but this is the first book of a planned series. The series title is Sin City Shifters. Yes! I’m writing shifter books! Hidden is about a woman who is half-dragon. Daisy the dragon! She’s fun.
And that’s it. What’s new with you?

My heroine:
I am not always a visual writer. Meaning that I don’t always need photos to get the creative juices flowing. Most of the time I conjure up my characters in my head, don’t use photos of various famous people for inspiration.
But as I was sitting in the Dallas/Fort Worth airport coming back from RT flipping through a magazine I saw her and thought, she looks just like my new heroine.

…at the Sizzling Pens blog. I’m talking about finally getting my mojo back. And I went a long time without the mojo. Sigh…
That’s the match that lit my mojo’s fire. LOL

This guy came to visit Sunday afternoon:

And he reminded me that I’ve been feeling like a giant turkey myself. When it comes to writing, I had been the biggest slacker lately. Oh I’d complain to my friends and family and whoever wanted to hear me (sorry everyone) but I never really did anything about it. I signed up for Sven so he would kick my butt and the first week I did all right but then I lost focus.
Well I’m back on track. I’ve written about three thousand words since Sunday and it’s rolling right along. I finally feel back into the groove. Thank goodness. I guess it just took a turkey to show me the way.

Fortune’s Deception is coming out at Samhain Publishing (March 4th to be exact)! Yay! I can’t wait, I had a lot of fun writing this book. The heroine was complex, I enjoyed figuring out what made her tick. And who doesn’t like dreaming about winning the lottery? (psst, if you click on the linky above you’ll find an excerpt there!)

Winning the lottery changes her life forever…in more ways than one.
One minute Brittney Jones is living paycheck to paycheck, and the next she and three friends win a record-breaking lottery jackpot. Sure, she’s spent some money on herself—after her rough childhood, she figures she deserves a few indulgences, big and small.
To financial advisor Charlie Manning, his client Brittney is a shallow beauty out to spend all of her money. He thinks she should rein it in. She thinks he should loosen up, and resolves to help him do just that—in a very naughty way.
The passion between them burns hot and fast, and Charlie comes to realize Brittney’s heart is as big as her newly fattened bank account. She’s not only smart, but beautiful and sexy. And he can’t resist her.
Still, Charlie is aware that Brittney’s keeping secrets from him. If only she would trust him enough to tell the truth!
