Yes, I took that photo. Not my oldest, but me. I’m impressed, if I do say so myself. And I didn’t even fiddle with it in Photoshop. Which I am slooooowly trying to figure out. But that’s another blog post.
This photo says it all. It is my life on the dirt road. See that road? It’s the road I live on. See that blue sky? We haven’t had much of that considering the smoke from all of the fires. It was actually a decent day Thursday though hot. See those poor little burned out flowers? Yes they burned to death from the dreadful heat.
Poor things.
See that awesome wood fence? That’s not my fence. That’s the Dibble’s fence, they’re our neighbors. They have horses. I’ll share pics of them sometime soon.
When we first moved out there (almost seven years ago) my oldest asked me (he was seven at the time), “Whose house is that?” and I answered, “The Dibbles.”
He pondered that for a moment, his brows drawing together and then blurted out, “The Devils?” The look on his face was pure horror.
Unbeknownst to them, we called the Dibble’s the Devils for years.

I’m also a part of a month long contest going on over at The Hussies. A bunch of EC authors got together - there are a lot of fabulous prizes so go check it out by clicking the box below:

So me and the family went on a little joyride through the backroads not far from our house. And discovered a road we didn’t even know existed! And ended at a road that’s close to ours! Crazy.

Notice the “no trespassing” sign, the giant gate. This does not deter my husband.
As I’m taking pretty pictures of this:

He’s doing this:

Yes that’s him, the guy in navy blue, hunched over trying to open the lock on the locked gate. He’s trying to break in. Such a rebel.
He didn’t open it by the way.
