Pumpkin Patch

12:50 am • Filed under: Books I Love, Home Life, Mom stuff

We’re going. Well, it’s not a real pumpkin patch but a place set up in a dirt lot across from McDonald’s with hay bales and giant slide rides and KETTLE KORN. Oh, whoops, I think I just gave away the true reason I want to go to that particular pumpkin patch…

I should probably only buy two (overpriced) pumpkins at that joint and then go across the street to the supermarket and buy some more for a better deal. Yeah that sounds like a plan. Then the two little munchkins get their pumpkin “patch” experience, Mom gets her Kettle Korn and then we go get cheaper pumpkins…

Did you know that my friends R.G. Alexander and Eden Bradley have new books out this week at Samhain? Vampire books? Oooh la la, go check ‘em out!

What are YOU up to today?

Pretty Pink Toenails

1:37 am • Filed under: Mom stuff

We went and got our hair did and our nails painted. My girl got her bling! Dang it the lady catered right to my daughter’s wants and needs and had her picking out the color of her bling before I could utter the words, ‘no thank you’. Oh well…she’s loving her bling though unfortunately you can’t see it in the picture very well. It’s in the center of the flowers.

I got pink toenails too:

But no bling. Maybe next time…

Friends coming over today that we haven’t seen in a long time. Looking forward to that. What are you up to?

Mommy-Daughter Morning

1:50 am • Filed under: Mom stuff

I am taking my daughter with me this morning and we’re getting our hair cut. Then we’re going to get pedicures and she wants a manicure too (we’ll see). She told me she wants, “a heart painted on one nail with diamonds all around it.” I don’t think so honey. The more bling the more $$. I think a nice pink mani/pedi with a couple of flowers or hearts will do.

When little brother found out we’re having a girls’ day, he wanted to know exactly what we were doing. When I told him, he said, “Oh, you’re just doing dumb stuff?”

That made me laugh.

What are you up to today? Dumb stuff? I’ll share pix of our dumb stuff later…

End of School Year Craziness

12:08 am • Filed under: Mom stuff

Oldest finished school yesterday, youngest finishes school today and middle finishes next Friday. Yeah she’s not too thrilled she has to stay in school the longest…

What with water days, ice cream days, volunteer appreciation lunches (which I have to MISS – waaah!), graduations of all ages…the list goes on and on.

Needless to say, it’s kind of busy around my house. And therefore the blogging has been scarce and so I apologize. But I’m sure (hoping!) that many of you understand. Please forgive me.

What are YOU up to lately?

Christmas Baking

8:26 pm • Filed under: Mom stuff

I’m late in posting because I’ve been either chasing children or baking all day. Goodies galore around here! Well not only baking but I’ve even done a little candy making. Fudge (I love fudge my grandma makes fabulous fudge) and I tried my hand at marshmallows. We’ll see if they work – I have to let them sit overnight…

Here’s a bit of the madness. Talk about making a mess…

And I’m still not done! I want to make frosted cookies with the kids this weekend plus I’m going to try out a caramel popcorn mix type recipe. Oh! And I’m making these. My friend Lori gave them to us in a goodie tray and well. We ate them all in about five. Seconds. Flat.

Do you bake lots of goodies during Christmas? What are you favorites?

Thanksgiving Dinner

12:05 am • Filed under: Mom stuff

I made an early one. You see, late last year I earned a giant turkey breast from the supermarket and I immediately tossed it in the freezer. Well, almost a year later I decided to make it for dinner.

I was worried. Would it be yuck? And OMG it was waaay bigger than I thought, how long is this thing gonna need to cook?

Well never fear it was delicious. Kind of like a pre-run before the actual big day. Which I am hosting but not panicking over this year. I got a break last year so this time around, I’m actually a little excited. I’m trying out new recipes and everything!

Why don’t we eat turkey more often? It’s good stuff!
