My Boy The Drummer

12:00 am • Filed under: Home Life

I’m a bad blogger. But hey it was a busy weekend. How about for you? This lousy weather is still HOT. And I’m sick of it. Helloooo…it’s almost October! Bring on the cold! I think I want to move to an area with a cooler climate someday.

Oh who am I kidding, I think I want to? I know I do.

I’m going off on a tangent. I’m sorry. Let’s bring it back to the real topic. My oldest is a freshman in high school (I had a hard time typing that). And he’s in the band. He’s a drummer. He was in a parade on Saturday, playing the cymbals. Isn’t that great? I thought so.

There’s something about parades in a small town. They make me happy. They almost make me tear up. They make me feel like a child again. But was I as whiny as my two children were at this parade? I hope not. If I was, sorry Mom! Sorry Grandma! They’re the ones I always remember going to parades with.

Here they come! Woot woot! His brother and sister were super glad they were the second band to perform in the parade.

There’s my boy! They had to tuck his hair up into the hat. He has kinda longish hair. It’s cool. It’s the style. All the boys are doing it.

He is passionate about drumming which I think is fantastic. He rat-tat-tats everything in the house. He’s talented. He makes me proud.

What did you do this weekend? Is it fall-like where you are? Go ahead, rub it in!

Happy Birthday Little Man

1:00 am • Filed under: Home Life

It’s my baby’s birthday today. He turns four. My BABY is FOUR. I can’t believe how fast the time flew.

It seems like just yesterday that I woke up early on a Sunday morning with labor pains. Sat around and watched Peyton Place for a while, counted how many minutes between each pain. Took a shower. Woke the husband. Finally made it down to the hospital.

I had him at 9:26 a.m. on 9/26. My oldest son was born on March 26th, my husband April 26th. All of the important men in my life were born on the 26th. Weird…

So happy birthday to my Spider-Man lovin’ little boy! You bring such joy and humor to our lives!
We love you!

Birthdays & The Winner

1:00 am • Filed under: Home Life, contest

It was my brother’s birthday yesterday. I remember when he born. Now he’s an old married man with a child. Though he still plays video games. That’s okay, though. He somehow turned it into a career! Gotta do what you love right?

Happy Birthday brother! Loves ya!
That is my bro in the basket many years ago with my oldest pushing him…

What I Did This Weekend

12:43 am • Filed under: Home Life

I went to the local festival at my daughter’s school.

And I learned that my ass is genormous (I can’t even believe I’m posting this photo).

My kids had a great time (oldest took all pix).

My youngest wore a Superman shirt instead of a Spiderman shirt. Shocking!

My daughter got her face painted:

And her face broke into a red rash the next morning. Ack. No more face paint.

But good fun was had by all. Mom even got freshly made cotton candy. Which youngest promptly stole as if I bought it for him. Ha!

That’s okay. We shared.

What did YOU do this weekend?

Crap, Be Gone

1:00 am • Filed under: Home Life

I looked around my house and realized…it’s a freaking mess. I have too much stuff! Do you ever want to just throw it all away figure out a way to reorganize it? Well, I’m on a mission this upcoming weekend.

A cleaning mission. A purging mission. I’ve noticed I do this every few months. Just get fed up, grab a stack of garbage bags and start tossin’. And what I don’t toss, I try to reorganize/organize. Some how. Some way.

I think I might recruit the munchkins. See if they want to help.

Huh. I doubt it…

What are you doing this fine holiday weekend?

The First Week of School…

12:04 am • Filed under: Home Life, Mom stuff

…is almost over and we’ve survived it. Yay! The early morning wake up is tough but we’re making it. Barely.

I love a good nap. Even if it’s only for fifteen minutes with Hannah Montana in the background. I take whatever I can get.

So thank goodness it’s Friday! Here are photos of Shaver Lake. We went there last week for a picnic. It was beautiful.

Happy Weekend!

School Days

1:00 am • Filed under: Home Life

They’re almost here! In one week my children will be off to school (oldest is actually starting Wednesday!). I can’t believe it’s already time.

Back in my day we started school the day after Labor Day and were let out the beginning of June. That gave us a full three months of summer. Now the kids are lucky to get two months! Poor little boogers.

When school resumes even my youngest will be going every day. That’s right, you heard me. Every. Day.

Is that cause for celebration or what? Oooh I’m so bad but seriously. More time to write! And I’m going to need it since I have to get up at the crack of doom just to get the boogers off to school. My entire schedule has to change - no more writing late at night. A girl needs at least a few hours of beauty sleep…

Knee Injury

3:19 pm • Filed under: Home Life

My daughter - my FIVE year old daugher - has somehow pulled a muscle or something in her knee and now it’s a little swollen. And she can hardly put pressure (i.e. walk) on it.

How the heck did she do that? She’s five! Try Googling “Five year old with a swollen knee” and you get a lot of dog-related articles. I think she would find that insulting, comparing her injury to a beagle’s.

My husband and I discussed it and we can only come up with the pool. She’s amazing in there. Swims like a fish. So we’re thinking she strained a muscle while swimming. She’s crazy good - I have visions of the Olympics…

If it’s not better by the evening I’m calling the doctor first thing tomorrow and taking her in.

Wild.

Even wilder - trying to keep a a five year old contained. In one spot. Especially when her three year old brother keeps tempting her to come play. Sigh…

Wish me luck.

I’m Still Around

1:16 pm • Filed under: Home Life

But so busy! My oldest graduated, oh, wait. Excuse me. He “promoted.” It was a promotion ceremony. Silly. Felt like I should’ve given him a briefcase as a present.

Last night we all went out to dinner. Today is my daughter’s last day of preschool. Tonight she has a candlelighting ceremony to celebrate her moving on. So sweet. I’ll probably cry or something.

Tomorrow is a big birthday bash for a preschool friend. So me and the little ones are going. Busy busy. I’m tired. I can’t wait for life to settle back to normal…
