They’re almost here! In one week my children will be off to school (oldest is actually starting Wednesday!). I can’t believe it’s already time.
Back in my day we started school the day after Labor Day and were let out the beginning of June. That gave us a full three months of summer. Now the kids are lucky to get two months! Poor little boogers.
When school resumes even my youngest will be going every day. That’s right, you heard me. Every. Day.
Is that cause for celebration or what? Oooh I’m so bad but seriously. More time to write! And I’m going to need it since I have to get up at the crack of doom just to get the boogers off to school. My entire schedule has to change - no more writing late at night. A girl needs at least a few hours of beauty sleep…

As promised, here are more photos for your enjoyment. Here we go…

Me and Jax Cassidy. She is a little ball of fire.

Me and RG Alexander. We’re in love. That’s why she’s groping me.

Kristen Painter. She’s lovely isn’t she?

With Jackie Barbosa and Shelli right before the RITA ceremony. I wish I would’ve had more time to talk to Jackie! She’s a sweetie.

A shot of the rowdy crowd I sat next to at the RITA ceremony. Rhonda Stapleton, Gwen Hayes and Kate Pearce. You think Rhonda is a hoot on the Diva forum? Wow, meet her in person. She is in constant movement - and so funny! I had the best time just watching her…

Everytime I’m over my boyfriend he does something to make me go, “Awwwww.” Like the car accident where he crushed his fingers (and got a DUI - but hey at least that accident wasn’t his fault!). I’d nurse him back to health, had been my immediate thought.
Sigh. Shame on me. But then I got excited about RWA and took off for San Francisco. Came home ready to write and threw myself into it. Got occupied with thoughts of school starting and the many things that are going on in my life this upcoming week (none of them that exciting, just appointments and stuff).
Then I found this:

Damn it he is handsome! Yes, me and three trillion other tweens think so, too. Gah. I am crazy.
But look at those eyes! I never realized just how purty they are. And they’re claiming he can’t get laid? Goodness. What is wrong with these young women of today? If I were younger and skinnier and not married well I just might’ve gone to L.A. and stalked his ass until I found him.
See? I’m a little deranged. I’m also high on diet Coke at the moment. So forgive me.
And yes I bought the magazine. Just shoot me. I might need to laminate it for fear of drool stains a la my Marky Mark photo.
p.s. - Yeah that married to a porn star article was actually pretty interesting too. So see?! I didn’t just buy it for the sex-ay cover, I also bought it to read! Uh huh…
p.p.s - I will post more RWA photos tomorrow, I swear.

I didn’t take very many. What’s wrong with me? Maybe I didn’t worry about it because my almost constant companion and roommate Shelli kept taking photos. If you don’t believe me go visit her blog. She took so many photos it took her one hundred plus hours to upload them all. Seriously. The woman is a camera nut. She almost lost that precious red camera too until some kind soul turned it in at the bar. Thank you kind soul!
Anywho let’s begin.

Ha! I didn’t even take this pic - Shelli did! It’s my first night there and I’m sitting with one of my favorite people, Lillian Feisty. Her tongue is out. How hot is that? You can see my fat gut but I don’t care.

Me, Lori Borrill and Tracy Wolff (oooh she has a pretty new site and it’s fab!). My Sizzling Pens blog buddies. They are so funny and so sarcastic. Love them. Wish I would’ve seen Lori more. Tracy was my date at the Harlequin party. She’s a good dancer.

Me and fellow EC author Amy Ruttan. What a sweetheart.

The lovely Eden Bradley and I at the Romance Divas dinner. That lemon chicken was most excellent, I don’t care what you say about yardbird Loribelle.
Speaking of yardbird here I am with Loribelle Hunt and Crystal Jordan at the dinner. Aren’t we precious?

Me and Anna J. Evans at Friday’s luncheon. Anna is the first person I ever met at RWA (Reno in 05). Though back then we were other people, ahem. I looked up her other persona over a year ago, curious as to what happened to that sweet and pretty girl and lo and behold I found out she was someone I knew through blog land! So crazy.

My bff Kate Pearce and the lovely Kristen Painter. These ladies rock. And we all happen to have names that start with K. Which means we are especially awesome. Now I sound like I’m in high school.
Now check this photo out…

This is me and Shelli and my KID! Yes he was in the bay area with his father and they swung by so I could see him and give him a hug for a quick minute. Isn’t that great?
Okay I have more but I think I’ll share them with you tomorrow. I took more than I thought…

First things first, I’m at Naughty & Spice today, talking about how excited I get when I come home from the RWA conference.
Second, I am sharing pix tomorrow (yes Rhian this notice is for you!). Loading photos onto a blog is a big pain in the arse. Why can’t they make it easier?
Third, okay, yes let’s announce a contest winner! Woot! I love a contest. I hope the winner of Shadow enjoys my book…
So the winner! I used good ol’ random.org to generate my winning number (3)…
DEVILISH SOUTHERN BELLE YOU ARE THE WINNER!!!
Sweetie, email me at karen.e.erickson @ gmail.com (minus spaces) and let me know what format you prefer. I’ll send you a copy of Shadow!
Thanks to everyone for entering my contest! Here’s one teaser photo from San Francisco…
EC authors galore! Wylie Kinson, Christine D’Abo, me, Amy Ruttan and Shelley Munro! Aren’t we fab? Aren’t they tall? (Well except me and Wylie, LOL)
Wow this photo is almost identical to the one on Shelley’s blog. Well they were snapped one after the other so there ya go. But more photos tomorrow I promise!

Okay I’m all about the easy. I think that really means I’m lazy but we’ll forget that for the moment right? Thanks…
So yeah, easy. Want to win a downloadable copy of my latest book The Vampire Oracle: Shadow? You do? Okay all you have to do is comment here, today’s post (I’m counting yesterday’s comments too because I’m nice like that). But I’m going to ask you a question. It’s an easy one I promise.
Tell me your favorite vampire book. It can be a series, it can be something old, something new, something obscure - just let me know what you like. What you can recommend. Share the vampire love, so to speak.
That’s it! Answer that question and you’re entered into the drawing. I’ll announce the winner tomorrow here on the blog. So watch for it and good luck!
Personally I’d run like hell if I came across a vampire who looked like that…

I have entered the reality zone after returning from the RWA conference in San Francisco.
What this means is endless laundry, a messy house and trying to figure out what to cook for dinner. Ugh.
So…I had grand plans on giving away a downloadable copy of my new book Shadow (Cobblestone Press) today but I think I’m going to do it tomorrow. But! If you comment today you will be entered as well.
How cool is that? Pretty damn cool.
By the way I met awesome people (I shall share pix), had a great time and tortured my feet. My feet now hate me with a passion.
More tomorrow…
