See this guy?
He’s been coming around a lot. Because these girls have moved in with the chickens:
And so he’s trying to garner their attention. By fluffing up his feathers all Thanksgiving-like and putting on a real show. It worked. I saw him, ahem, getting busy with at least one female turkey Sunday afternoon. My daughter saw it too. Ah, life in the country! Nothing like wild birds teaching the children about sex.
Male turkeys are way better looking. Our poor girls are so ugly! I call them our girls because they have literally moved in. They sleep every night on top of the chicken coop. When I open up the gate for the chickens to come out in the morning, the turkeys walk in and eat. They hang out with the chickens all day. I consider those turkeys part of the family now.
Maybe we’ll have some babies to add to the mix…

Jax Cassidy says:
Turkeys scare me. I don’t know what it is but I think they’ll chase after me an peck me…same with Ostrich..well, actually anything with feathers.
I say you keep an eye on Mr. Fluffing Gobble Gobble.
Kristen Painter says:
Mmm…turkey…
Karen says:
Ostriches are MEAN Jax! The turkeys – they’re scared of us.
And yeah…turkey is delicious.
