Meet Oliver:

He’s our dog. We got him back in the summer – someone my husband works with brought him in, trying to give him away. Everyone wanted him and so did my husband but he figured that I wouldn’t because I always said no when my husband asked for a dog. (This is because I knew that I would take care of the dog, he would become my responsibility and I already had my hands full with the kids)
But something told me immediately that this dog would be different. He would be okay. And that something was right. He can be a pain in the butt but Oliver is definitely the dog for our family. And he’s like my fourth child.
When everyone is outside and riding quads and swinging on swings or swmming in the pool, then Oliver is right there with them. Running and going crazy. He gives good chase to the cats who let him (and ignores the ones who growl and let him know who’s boss). He gets super hyper when he sees oldest and wants to be with him always.
But when it’s time to wind down and be lazy, well Oliver gives good lazy, too. He’ll lie around and snooze. Doesn’t complain if that’s the way it is (and it’s been that way for a couple of days because of the rain). He lets the kids crawl all over him and yank on his ears and examine his teeth. He’s gentle and sweet but when a stranger knocks on the door he barks like a mad dog. When my husband is out of town, I feel safer knowing that Oliver is with us. He also likes to sit in my husband’s chair:

I love him.
p.s. — HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIMBERLY!

Awwwwwwwwww. U know I”ve alwasy been a cat person and I never thought I”d love a dog as much as I love Buffy!
Brittany says:
I LOVE the last pic of him in the chair!!!!
Amy Ruttan says:
Aww heart is melting seeing Oliver in that chair. I miss our family dog. My parents have a new dog but I’m still morning our first one.
I remember when I had Boo, our old family dog was EXTREMELY protective of her. When I visited my parents once when Boo was a newborn, Boo started crying and Pepper came out, grabbed me by the pant leg and dragged me to her. LOL.
Amy Ruttan says:
Umm I should also mention Pepper was a Chihuahua.
Karen says:
I agree Amie – I’ve always been a cat person and well, I’ve become more of a dog lover because of good ol’ Oliver.
That’s our fave pic of him too Brittany! I caught him sitting like that just before Christmas.
And Amy the vision of Pepper the Chihuahua dragging you made me giggle.

Long time lurker here…. so HI!!!
I have a 6 month old black lab and I have to say that thing is a monster. He eat a WHOLE tupperware container. yeah.
Once they get past that stage, they make wonderdul pets
Karen says:
Luckily enough we got Oliver when he was about 4-5 months old so he didn’t chew up too much stuff. If you don’t count some of the outdoor furniture down by the pool.
