Excerpt – Hidden Available Tomorrow!

12:04 pm • Filed under: New book fun!,contest

So my novella Hidden is coming out tomorrow at Ellora’s Cave. This book is the first of, hmm at least three total, maybe more, a series entitled Sin City Shifters. I’m at the halfway mark on the second one as we speak.

I’m going to give away one downloadable copy of Hidden to one lucky commenter. Let’s go ahead and start counting the comments today! One comment per day please. Contest will run through Saturday, September 13th. Winner announced on Sunday, September 14th.

“Is he here yet?”

“Gawd, Dais, will you leave it alone? No, he’s not here yet! I’ll tell you the minute he walks in. I’ll call you on your cell phone. Trust me.” Monique shook her head, resting her hands on her hips.

Daisy gestured at her to go back out to the bar. “Well what are you waiting for? You need to quit lollygagging and get back to it! What if he’s out there right now?”

Monique rolled her eyes. “Why don’t you go out there and wait for him since you’re so eager. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you like this about a guy before.”

“He had a really sexy voice.” Daisy nibbled on her fingernail, the butterflies dancing in the pit of her stomach distracting her. She hadn’t been able to think straight since she’d spoken with him and that had been a day ago.

Sebastian had sounded so eager to talk to her, to see her. But was he ready to see her? Would he freak out and run once he caught a glimpse of her flaws?

Daisy shook her head. She couldn’t believe she was even contemplating revealing herself to a complete stranger.

But she was.

“That’s all it was, huh? A sexy voice? That must’ve been some voice.” Monique sighed and pushed herself away from the counter she’d been leaning against. “Okay, I’m headed back out to the bar. What do you want me to tell this guy again?”

“Jeez, Mo, don’t you ever listen? Tell him not to move a muscle. I’d love to talk to him as soon as I’m done with my show. Then come back here and point him out to me so I can check him out.”

“Are you really going to meet with him?”

Daisy tossed the hair away from her face. “Of course not! He’d jump and run at the first glimpse of me. I’m a freak!”

“You are not a freak.” Monique’s voice was soft, her face an expression of sympathy. “You need to stop beating yourself up about it. I know we’re all afraid and that’s why we stay here but seriously, Dais, you’re a total catch. Sweet and cute—and from what I hear, wild in bed.”

“Oh please.” Daisy stuck her tongue out at her friend. Monique’s words were flattering but were those traits really good enough for a regular man despite her differences? She had no clue.

“I’m just stating the truth.”

“Well, you’re lucky—no one can tell you’re a witch.”

Life was so unfair sometimes. Her best friend looked like a goddess and conducted magical spells on a daily basis, and she was a dragon who was a complete eyesore and couldn’t do anything remotely special.

Well, except set things on fire with her breath. That was kind of special.

“I could transform you, you know. Concoct a little spell…” Monique said the words so quietly Daisy wasn’t sure she heard them.

“What? What do you mean?”
