Since Monday marks the beginning of school, this also marks a new schedule in my household. We are getting up early.
Real early.
Like around six. That’s in the a.m. I have to get my daughter to the bus stop by around seven so…yeah. That means early rising. And I’m not really an early riser. Well, I don’t do half bad but over the summer, I got real lazy. Like real real lazy. So it’s hard to get back into the swing of things.
I’m even toying with the idea of waking up even earlier to write. Yes! Like around five! Can I do it? If I go to bed early enough I can. I’m having to go to bed early anyway so why not a little earlier? I’ve decided I’m losing my night writing time so I gotta do a switch.
Can I do it? I don’t know. I just read somewhere (I believe it was Candace Havens who said it, I could be wrong but I’m giving her credit anyway) that if you write first thing after you wake up, your internal editor is shut off.
Well, I bet my internal editor will be flat-out asleep. But that will probably work in my favor.
Any early risers out there? Do you feel your best in the morning or are you a night owl? And tell me, is my plan crazy? From night owl to early bird – can it be done?

Devilish Southern Belle says:
Nope, I’m not an early riser AT ALL. That’s probably to my detriment, but I am one of those night owls who is up the entire night.
Of course, since the beginning of August, I’ve had to start getting up pretty early because my two kids started back to school, and this year they’re in different schools. I really should try to get up earlier on the days I don’t have to go to work, so that I can write before getting them up, then I can come back home and nap if I need to!

I am by nature a morning person. If I can start around 5 or 6 in the a of m, I can go flat-out til noonish but then my brain is done for the day. The lax summer schedule is actually harder on me because everybody is running later than my body clock wants.
Amy Ruttan says:
I’m trying to switch my muse to write during the day and not at night, since now I have time in day.
It’s not working yet.

I’m a night owl, so I wake up late.
Kelley Nyrae says:
I hate getting up early. Not my thing. My youngest is an early riser.
Karen says:
I woke up at 5:30 this morning. I’m a little tired right now but all is good! Kids had a great first day of school. Did I write? No but I did go to Target by myself. And it was awesome.

[...] I know it’s only been a couple of days but man, I am draggin’ (getting up at 5:30 in the morning is probably not helping). I sit in front of my laptop and tell myself to [...]

I’m going to try getting up to write in the morning, too, once the kids start back to school (not ’til Labor Day…gah!). And now I’m that I hear the internal editor’s asleep, well, I’m even more motivated to give it a try!!
Best of luck on your morning endeavors!!
