I talked about our rattlesnake incident last week at Naughty and Spice. We live in snake country, we know this and have dealt with them here and there. But when one is hanging out on your back porch, it’s really freaky.
It’s even more freaky when the damn thing is inside. Your. HOUSE.
Here’s the situation. I’m gathering laundry on Saturday afternoon. I round the kitchen counter, headed toward the laundry room when I see it. Stretched out on the floor, cooling itself off I’m sure (it’s so hot here it’s awful).
At least it was a baby snake – and not a rattlesnake either. Seriously if it had been full grown I would’ve packed up the kids and left the house. Gone to get hubby and tell him to go home and kill that snake.
That’s another bummer – husband was working! I had to take care of this little guy all by myself! I tried to scoop up the snake and toss him outside but he kept slithering off the shovel and then he went into my pantry.
He got deeper and deeper in there. I took a ton of stuff out (hey he helped clean my pantry – the only good thing about my snake visitor) to get to him and he finally hissed at me. I freaked him out.
Well he freaked me out so I did the only thing I could. I killed him. And I felt bad for doing it.
But I couldn’t have it slithering around in my house! Ewww…so I took him outside to toss him. And when I tossed him I flung him so high he ended up hanging from a tree branch.
Yes I am stupid. But at least I don’t have a snake in my house anymore.
Don’t forget to comment to be entered in my awesome blog celebration contest! Details in the post below…

You are far braver than me. I hate snakes. Anything without legs makes me queasy. I sit here in awe of you. You go girl!
cyclops8 says:
I would have fainted. I can’t imagine come face to face with a snake. Luckily we don’t see them in the city.
Debby Creager says:
That is the funniest story I have read in a while. i am so proud of you for taking care of it on your own. Your new look is great as well.

Debi says:
My husband’s grandmother killed a coral snake, put it in a Coke bottle then set it on the frig shelf. Beleive me when I say my MIL broke sound decimels when she arrived home and reached in for a refreshing drink of her favorite beverage. Nasty…but funny…
BTW, love your website. Clean and easy to navigate. Kudos!
Katie D says:
I spit coffee on my computer. lol Hanging from the tree was so funny.
I would have kicked him out too. We have lizards here and they freak me out. If they don’t pay rent they can get out.

Emma Petersen says:
You know they tell tales about you in snake kingdoms all over the word. When a snake whispers your name they all cringe and shudder in fear because she is KAREN SNAKE KILLER!
Hehe. Just kidding. I know you didnt meant to kill that poor little snake.
Emma Petersen says:
p.s. ChunkaWunka!
Cherie J says:
I can sympathize because we have problems with snakes here occasionally. There was one slithering in the streets just this past Saturday. One of the neighbors down the road killed it. He said it was not a rattlesnake but it was not a harmless garden snake either. Who knows where it would have ended up if he hadn’t killed it. I would die if he were in the house. You are braver than me.
Love the newlook of the site. Beautiful job!
Nissa says:
Ewww.. I don’t mind snakes in the zoo, but in my house? No way! I’d have been screaming…
You’re much braver than I am!
Karen says:
Hey he was a baby snake so it wasn’t so bad. But it was still traumatic. Ugh. And I really didn’t want to kill him, he left me no choice. I didn’t want him slithering on my children at night as they slept.
Eeeeeek….
Kimmy L says:
I do not like snakes of any size. I’d already ran a mile down the road. LOL
Tara W says:
I’m in the minority I guess. I love snakes as long as they are not hanging over my head. Go Figure. LOL
Jeanette Jackson says:
Site looks great. I don’t mind snakes as long as they aren’t poisonous
Jean Pat says:
Site is looking really good.
I don’t like snakes, luckily live where don’t encounter them that often. Though a couple years ago, I ended up stringtrimming one, had him ground up before realized he was there
