The Jungle

12:38 pm • Filed under: Writing

Photobucket

A scary place.

Photobucket

Evil creatures lurk there.

Photobucket

Evil Diegos. Die Diego die!

Photobucket

Cue the music - my hero has come to save the day!

Photobucket

SHIA! Kill that snake with your mighty sword. Heh heh heh…

Photobucket

The evil creature is dead.

Photobucket

That’s right sweetie. Take off your jacket and stay a while. Flex those muscles. You’re so tough.

Photobucket

The jungle doesn’t scare you!

Photobucket

Witnesses to my madness.

And I watched an interview with him last night. He said the words, “I have a crush on Karen (well he’s talking about Karen Allen who’s in the film with him but I don’t care).” So yes, those very words have dropped from his lips. He’s crushing on me. Isn’t that just the sweetest thing?

Yes I really have lost my mind.

My New Favorite Song

9:55 am • Filed under: Writing

I’m madly in love with this song.

I can’t stop listening to it (though I’m usually listening to the eight minute version - yeah!) and I’ve written my entire book so far with this song playing over and over and over…

Gotta love having a fourteen year old in the house. He turned me on to it. It’s by Death Cab for Cutie. And it’s gooood.

And the Winner Is…

12:54 am • Filed under: contest

I want to thank everyone for stopping by and commenting! I loved reading each and every comment! But there can only be one winner and thanks to a random number generator site that winner is…

STEPHANIE S!!

Stephanie, please send me an email at karen.e.erickson @ gmail.com (minus spaces) with your snail mail addy so I can send you your awesome prize! Seriously it’s so awesome I want it all to myself. But I can’t do that. That would be wrong and selfish. LOL

Congrats again Stephanie! And big smooches to everyone who stopped by to visit! My drive was fine though my daughter caught my stomach bug and threw up a couple of times in the car. I brought a bowl so we were okay but still - ugh. Had a great visit but we are glad to be home.

Happy Memorial Day

12:20 am • Filed under: Writing

Enjoy your day off (if you have one), remember those who have served and sacrificed for us, too. I will be driving most of the day - lucky me! Even though I was sick for most of the trip I had a nice time with my family and I’m glad I came.

Last day to comment to be entered into my contest! But please, just because the contest is ending don’t leave me all alone here. There’s another FANTASTIC contest going on over at Naughty & Spice. I love visitors, I love comments so don’t forget to visit me!

Ugh

11:28 am • Filed under: Home Life, contest

I’m still not feeling up to par. Yesterday it was rainy/cloudy all day long - kinda fit my mood. I felt so yuck I had to cut short a lunch with one of my oldest and dearest friends! What a great way to spend my weekend away from home - lying on the couch.

Today so far I feel better. My bro and his family is coming over today as well as my grandma. We’re all going to hang out. I go home tomorrow. My dad has to work - he’s working boat patrol up on Shasta Lake and brought home a giant lobster floaty that was abandonded on the lake. Perfect for the pool!

So yeah. My life is exciting. Did anyone notice the new smileys? Some kitty cats! Yay!

And don’t forget to comment! You still have today and tomorrow to do so to still be entered in my contest…

Shame On Me

1:02 pm • Filed under: Writing

I didn’t post yesterday and I’m sorry. I got horribly sick Thursday night and still managed to get up, gather energy and drive five hours north to my parents’ house. Needless to say I collapsed in bed by nine p.m.

I just want to thank everyone for the sweet comments regarding my blog and site! I love it so much and I’m glad everyone likes it.

So now I’m going to hang out with my family and old friends for the next few days. And guess what? It’s RAINING. Yes! Rain on Memorial Day weekend! What’s up with that?

Any fun plans for the weekend? Don’t forget to comment to be entered in the contest! Prize and info listed below…

Oh Yum Thursday!

9:57 am • Filed under: Writing

It’s finally here! The Oh Yum! release day for me and my friend Amy Ruttan!

You can purchase Too Tempting (by me!) by clicking here

Caroline hasn’t seen Kevin Travers since he left for college four years ago. The boy she knew is now a gorgeous, intense man—and starring in her erotic fantasies. When Kevin admits a longtime attraction, Caroline can’t understand his interest in a woman twelve years his senior. But that doesn’t stop her from enjoying all his body has to offer.

Kevin is home for a few months before relocating for a dream job. Too bad it’s not hisdream. No, his dreams involve something closer to home—and one of them is Caroline Howard. The sexy divorcée considers him a summer fling…which gives him three months to convince her he’s more than just the boy next door.

You can purchase Love Thy Neighbor (by Amy!) by clicking here

Amy's book

David Craig has been in love with the same woman for two years, a woman fifteen years his senior. He’s tried everything to forget her, even kept away from his parent’s home to avoid her. Now he’s back for his sister’s wedding and the woman he’s tried to forget is single

When her ex husband leaves her for a younger woman Beverly finds herself, alone, forgotten and in a slump. That is until David Craig returns to town.

Seducing David Craig is just what she needed, she just never counted on the intensity of feelings she has for him, and he has for her. Maybe there is truth to the old adage of Love Thy Neighbor.

Amy and I would love it if you could join us today at the Ellora’s Cave Yahoo Chat Loop (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ellorascavechat/)    where we’ll be chatting from one to three p.m. eastern time. We’ll be sharing lots of yummy excerpts and a few prizes too! So stop on by!

Oh! And check out our Thursday Thirteen over at Six Degrees of Sexy. I’m all about the promo whore. Amy is all about real life. I didn’t mention that I’ll be scrambling to pack before I go out of town on Friday! Aaack…

Saturday’s Visitor

12:56 am • Filed under: Home Life, contest

I talked about our rattlesnake incident last week at Naughty and Spice. We live in snake country, we know this and have dealt with them here and there. But  when one is hanging out on your back porch, it’s really freaky.

It’s even more freaky when the damn thing is inside. Your. HOUSE.

Here’s the situation. I’m gathering laundry on Saturday afternoon. I round the kitchen counter, headed toward the laundry room when I see it. Stretched out on the floor, cooling itself off I’m sure (it’s so hot here it’s awful).

At least it was a baby snake - and not a rattlesnake either. Seriously if it had been full grown I would’ve packed up the kids and left the house. Gone to get hubby and tell him to go home and kill that snake.

That’s another bummer - husband was working! I had to take care of this little guy all by myself!  I tried to scoop up the snake and toss him outside but he kept slithering off the shovel and then he went into my pantry.

He got deeper and deeper in there. I took a ton of stuff out (hey he helped clean my pantry - the only good thing about my snake visitor) to get to him and he finally hissed at me. I freaked him out.

Well he freaked me out so I did the only thing I could. I killed him. And I felt bad for doing it.

But I couldn’t have it slithering around in my house! Ewww…so I took him outside to toss him. And when I tossed him I flung him so high he ended up hanging from a tree branch.

Yes I am stupid. But at least I don’t have a snake in my house anymore.

Don’t forget to comment to be entered in my awesome blog celebration contest! Details in the post below…
