Last year I was a writing maniac. I wrote and wrote and wrote until I couldn’t write anymore. I told myself, ‘Next year you’ll write even more! You’ll be a writing machine!’
Yeah, well we’re closing in on the second month of ‘08 and the writing machine is so not happening.
I think I burned myself out a little teeny tiny bit. I’m wondering if I needed this break. Don’t get me wrong, I have been writing. In fact, I sent off a partial to an editor yesterday and my fingers are now permanently crossed (makes it hard to type, no? Maybe that’s my problem?). But I haven’t been at my usual full speed ahead pace.
Sven is starting again March 1st. The last round I must admit I kicked major ass. I wrote a LOT. So I signed up again, I have some things I want to work on and so I’m taking a mini writing break until March 1st rolls around.
I have writerly-type things going on that I’ll be working on until then. And also a bathroom to finish painting (so close!), another room to paint (only one wall!) and I need to purge my house of all the useless crap I kick at every day. So it’s not like I’m reclining in my chair doing nothing.
Damn it.

I’m not a writing maniac either and you know what? I’m okay with that. I’ve got a lot of writerly crap going on too, so I write when I can and try to make the most of it. My internal editor will just have to deal.
(You were totally right about that Suburban Turmoil blog - FUNNY!)

I think I’m going to be a writing machine this year. I’ve just finished a novella. I have a deadline for the second book in my friday’s at Luciano’s series. I have a deadline for a christmas novella and my Parker editor asked if I might be able to squeeze one more novella in.
Good luck with Sven!

Not me…I tried Fast Draft early in the month and sucked like a hoover…I can write 500-1000 words a day, most days. Period. Occasionally, I can crank out 2500 and occasionally only 100. Today…nothing. Bleh…
But good luck!
