I’m stumped. I don’t know what to blog about.
I had an uneventual weekend. Actually, that’s a lie. I went to the mall with the kids yesterday and spent money. Had a good time, too. Man, that mall was packed. All of the stores are already gearing up for the holidays. Crazy! I used to work retail - I did the retail thing for five years. And even though it drove me crazy, when I get in a store and see all the displays, smell the clothes and perfume, etc. I miss it.
Yeah, sometimes I actually miss working retail. I haven’t done that in 10 years! But I always said I could write a book with all the crazy experiences I had during my retail years. Maybe I will. It’ll have to be a book of antecdotes (did I spell that right?), though, cos it’s those little things the customers do that count.
Okay, look, I thought I had nothing to say and I ended up talking about something. Maybe it wasn’t very interesting but at least it was something…
Any lame job of your younger years that you had - do you miss it? Or thank your lucky stars you don’t have to deal with it anymore? Share!

NOpe don’t miss any of my lame jobs. I do miss working in the ER though. That was really fun.
Tempest Knight says:
I never had a lame job. My attitude has always been if I can’t have a job I can enjoy then I won’t work. I’ve kept that attitude all my life. My choices of jobs have always been related to my college degree so I found them rather stimulating. And yes, I enjoy working. I wouldn’t give up working for anything in the world. Not even a husband. Not even a rich one. I won’t give up my independece for anything - or anyone. *wg*

Sometimes I miss working in a bookstore. I never miss waiting on tables though lol!
Kimberly says:
Nothing terrible. But I did work at a Subway Sandwiches. Not an actual shop either, but one of those that is tucked in the back corner of you local Chevron gas station. That was an interesting job.
Sharon J says:
Is it any wonder that I hate shopping? Richard thinks I must be lacking some female hormones or something whereas I think I’m just being sensible.

I was a toy store clerk for a short time. I was always put in charge of selling the “quota item”. So I would take one out and play with it most of the day. Not bad. But babysitting when parents left their small children in the store while they shopped elsewhere was never fun. Ahh… the fun of being a teenager!

That anonymous was me. For some reason I couldn’t sign in. Sorry!

I don’t know about lame, just typical. McDonalds, grocery store, waitress…that sort of thing. I started working young though. I got my first restaurant job when I was 14.
Oh, I had a job for a while where I did phone surveys. That was back when everybody had regular phones.
Shelli Stevens says:
I used to work in a seafood restaurant, fast food somewhat. And I worked with all these guys and I was the only chick. It was a blast. We talked smack and I got to flirt. Ah… I miss those days. Course I gained a crapload of weight eating fried food all the time.
Tara M. Leigh says:
I thank my lucky stars I’m out of it! LOL It was Burger King…EW! Eau de Whopper was not my favorite smell!
With Love,
Tara M.
Emma Sinclair says:
I start missing retail this time of year too!
And with all the stores hiring, it’s every so tempting. But then I remind myself I’d have to work the day after Thanksgving. Which even though I loved my 5 am the day after Thanksgiving shifts, which I begged for every year, I’ll never be doing that again.
Amanda Brice says:
I don’t miss any of the lame jobs from my younger years, but I have to admit that I miss my summer job from 1996. It was the coolest summer job ever. I was a protocol officer for the Olympics.
Melissa Marsh says:
I worked as a convenience store clerk for exactly a week. I quit when they said I had to wear business-dress clothes. At the price they were paying me, there was no way I was going to go buy a new wardrobe for that! So I went to my cousin’s pizza parlor and became a pizza chef instead.
Nope, don’t miss EITHER of those jobs. Well, ok, I DO miss the free food - we made the best tasting pizza I’ve ever had.
Sue aka MsCreativity says:
I’ve had many different jobs - from working in a mens’ prison, helping the homeless, to checkouts at Tesco… Now I’m unable to go out and work I’m thankful for all the different experiences I can draw on for my writing. My only regret is that I never worked in the medical profession - that would’ve really helped with my medical romance right now!!

Stacy Dawn says:
I used to work retail for years too. The best acedotes (sp??) I have though are from when I was a children’s photographer…let’s just say I can laugh now LOL.
The lamest job was a shampoo girl for a mega DIVA.
M.E Ellis says:
I love not being a chef.
Wanting to stab customers is not good.
