TGIF

11:50 am • Filed under: Uncategorized

To be honest, Fridays aren’t that big a deal to me. I stay at home now, so I never get to leave my job (which is a bummer), my husband’s days off are Wed. & Thurs. so our Fri. night is really Tues. But that doesn’t matter anyway cos he gets NO days off the rest of the month! He only got 3 days off total! He works for slaves drivers. But that’s a whole other story.

So I’ve decided I have ADD. When it comes to reading books. I kid you not I can have 4-5 different books going at the same time, which is ridiculous. Right now I have three going: The new Plum Sykes book I mentioned yesterday, the Donald Maass book and workbook (does that count as a total of 4 then?) and Tori Carrington’s new Blaze, Obsession. All three are completely different, and all three are very good.

Does anybody else read more than one book at a time? Do you wonder if you’re a little nuts for doing it? Or do you think it’s completely normal? I know I’m not completely normal, but I thought I would just check in with the rest of ya.

    yeah, always.

I’m currently reading Memoirs of a Geisha, The Bride Stripped Bare (again - as research for my Spicey book) and The Grave Tattoo by Val McDermid.

I pick up whichever one I’m in the mood for at the time

In my youth, when I had boundless energy, I was able to read multiple books. Now, I have trouble simply reading one book and writing one book at the same time. How do you do it? Do kids give you ADD? I think I want that.

  3. Becky says:

Julie maybe you’re right (lol)…kids give you a form of ADD …
Because they interrupt you so often you get used to doing things in short little bursts.

  4. Stacy Dawn says:

I can max out at two books. If it is really good I don’t do anything else but read the one.

  5. Karen Erickson says:

Yes, I think children give you ADD. Becky nailed it on the head about interruptions and doing things in short spurts. That’s me now all the way. Hell, that’s even how I’ve been writing lately. 100 words here, 250 there, etc. It’s a little crazy, but it’s been working.

And now I add another book to the pile. The new Spice release Tease…

I’ve been doing that a lot lately, reading more than one at a time. Never did before, but all of a sudden I’ve got 3-4 going at a time
Not sure its not, confusing sometimes maybe *g*

    Hi Karen,
I just hopped over from Julie’s blog.
I’m guilty of having more than one book on the go. I’m currently reading three non-fiction, and two fiction… Confusing? Yep! But I find I have different phases during my day. One book I refer to while I am writing, another I pick up when I have a spare 10 mins, another I treat myself to at bedtime…
Love your blog btw… I’ll be back :-)
